Dr. Craig B. Frey
Dr. Frey was born and raised in Solon, OH, he attended both the Solon public school system and graduated high school from Gilmour Academy. He then went on to attend Washington and Jefferson College, where he graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science. While attending W and J College, he played and served as captain of the collegiate hockey team. During that time he was a member of Team USA World Inline Hockey Team, winning both a gold and silver medal. Dr. Frey then attended Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine where he graduated in 2012 with his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his reconstructive foot and ankle surgery residency training at Cleveland Clinic Foundation/Mercy Regional Medical Center in 2015 where he served as Chief Resident.
He currently serves as the System Director of University Hospitals Cleveland, OH Podiatric Medicine and Surgery. He is also the Fellowship Director at University Hospitals Advanced Limb Salvage and Reconstruction. He is also the Residency Director; University Hospitals Cleveland, OH Podiatry Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Frey is also adjunct clinical faculty for Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Frey is heavily involved in education. He currently lectures nationally on numerous topics of the foot and ankle, with special attention to stem cells, skin and muscle flaps, nerve reconstruction, and other advanced surgical procedures. Beyond podiatry, he has also lectured at the Vascular Disease Update Conference for vascular medicine and surgery as well as writing for an international medical journal for endocrinology.
Dr. Frey has surgical interests in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and
management, specifically in limb salvage and charcot via both internal and external fixation. He has advanced training in biologics, stem cell treatment, and muscle flaps. Additional areas of interest and expertise include the treatment of athletes and sports injuries, fracture care, trauma, pediatric foot, and ankle surgery, as well as bunion and hammertoe surgery. He has advanced training in foot and ankle arthroscopy as well as nerve reconstruction and repair of the lower extremity for chronic pain and muscle impairment.
Dr. Frey remains active in his community as an ex-offico co-present at Gilmour Academy, he was also inducted into the Gilmour Academy Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014. In his spare time you can find Dr. Frey on the golf course or watching any of the Cleveland sports teams. Dr. Frey currently resides in Beachwood, Ohio.
