Dr. Megan L. Oltmann

Dr. Megan L. Oltmann is a board-certified foot surgeon and managing partner of Foot and Ankle Associates of Cleveland. Dr. Oltmann graduated from The Ohio State University where she obtained her bachelor’s in biology and minor in dance. She then went on to attend Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine where obtained her Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Oltmann completed her surgical residency at Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Mercy Health.

She is currently teaching faculty for University Hospitals Podiatric Surgery Residency Program as well as adjunct clinical faculty for Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine. Dr. Oltmann is the current Medical Director for University Hospitals Bedford and Richmond Wound Care Centers. Dr. Oltmann is currently on staff at University Hospitals Ahuja, Richmond, and Bedford Medical Centers as well as Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest and Marymount Hospitals.

Dr. Oltmann is a co-author of the #1 best-seller “Chronicles of Women in White Coats 3”. She co-authored the book with the group Women in White Coats (WIWC). The authors discuss their trials, tribulations, and triumphs as female physicians. In her chapters Dr. Oltmann discusses her eight-year journey to a diagnosis with an autoimmune disease and overcoming gender bias as a female physician in her chapters entitled “A Dancer’s Dilemma” and “The Double Standard”. Kent State Alumni Magazine featured Dr. Oltmann on the cover for “Blazing a Trail for the Future of Women in Medicine.”   Dr. Oltmann is a master speaker for WIWC where she is featured on their podcast, doctors lounge, and recently gave a TED talk at the WIWC annual summit.

She grew up dancing competitively and playing volleyball. Naturally this would lead Dr. Oltmann to have a special interest in sports injury management with an emphasis on dancers, as she understands the biomechanics of dancer’s feet. She has other surgical interests in fracture management, lower extremity trauma, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, diabetic limb salvage, bunion, and hammertoe surgery, including minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Oltmann has advanced training in external fixation, micro nerve surgery, muscle flaps, and minimally invasive techniques.

Dr. Oltmann enjoys traveling to lecture regionally and nationally. She is on the speaker’s bureau for a publicly held company that is an industry leader in advanced wound care and therapeutic biologics. She also lectures to University Hospitals Internal Medicine and Transitional Year Residents, as well as community outreach with the UH Senior Network. Dr. Oltmann gives lectures regionally and nationally on topics such as Forefoot Traumatology, Dancer’s Injuries, Autoimmune Diseases in the Lower Extremity, and Limb Salvage to name a few.

In her spare time Dr. Oltmann enjoys working out, golfing, swimming in the summer months, playing volleyball, both indoor and sand, and riding her Peloton. When she has a free weekend she enjoys traveling back to the Youngstown area where much of her family resides. She resides in North Ridgeville, OH with her Golden Retrievers “Braxton” and “Oliver”.
